Second Half Goal Pushes Draw With Culver-Stockton, 1-1

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Despite giving up a goal in the first half, the Baker women's soccer team scored in the second half to tie Culver-Stockton on Homecoming Weekend, 1-1.

Baker took a total of six shots in the game with two coming from Naomi Harris-Hyche and two coming from Sidney Claeys. Karenna Starnes got the start in net for Baker, making three saves on the night.

Just over seven minutes into the game, Culver-Stockton was able to grab the early lead, but the Baker defense would buckle down and not give up another goal for the rest of the game.

Almost 70 minutes later with just over 13 minutes left in the game, Harris-Hyche was able to finish the goal as she tied the game at one. The Baker offense pushed to add a second goal but couldn't find the back of the net as the game finished in a 1-1 tie.

Baker moves to 3-5-3 on the season and sits at 2-3-2 in Heart of America play. They will be back in action on Saturday, October 11, when they travel to Parkville, Mo., to take on Park University at 12 p.m.
