Widhalm, Misipeka Earn AVCA All-Region Honors
LEXINGTON, Ky. - After helping lead the Wildcats to one of their best seasons in over a decade, Aby Widhalm and Kohanihokuao Misipeka of the Baker volleyball team were named to the 2025 American Volleyball Coaches Association NAIA All-Region Teams, the organization announced on Tuesday.
A year after being tabbed AVCA Midwest Freshman of the Year, Widhalm landed on the All-Region First Team this season after she totaled 253 kills, 218 digs, 22 service aces, and nine double-doubles. The sophomore from Pleasant Hill, Mo., was a first-team all-conference selection for the second straight season, following up a stellar debut in 2024, when she was also named Heart Newcomer of the Year.
In her first season at Baker since transferring from Cornell, Misipeka earned All-Region honorable-mention honors after recording a team-high 299 kills, hitting .164 in her 25 matches played, and tallying 334 digs, which was the second-highest on the squad. Misipeka joined Widhalm on the All-Heart First Team after ranking in the top-10 among conference hitters with an average of three kills per set (2.99) this season.
This season, Baker won its most games since 2013, going 17-10 overall, and posted an 11-7 mark in conference play to reach the Heart Conference Tournament for the first time in seven years. BU started off the fall by winning four of its first five matches and added a five-game winning streak in mid-September to get off to an excellent start to the Heart season as well.
