Women's Soccer Drops Conference Road Match at Graceland

LAMONI, Iowa - Baker women's soccer fell on the road at Graceland on Saturday evening, 3-0 in the final game of BU's three-match road trip.

The Yellowjackets scored three goals in the second half to turn a defensive first-half battle into a comfortable three-score win for the hosts. It was just the second time all year the Wildcats went scoreless in a match after averaging nearly two goals per game coming into the matchup.

The Baker attack was held in check for most of the match, finishing with just three shots attempted, including only one chance in the second half. Meanwhile, Graceland put up 15 shots and forced BU starting goalie Sophia Holloway to make 10 saves in the contest.

After a scoreless first half of play, the Yellowjackets quickly broke the deadlock in the second half, scoring the opening goal just two minutes into the period.

Graceland added its second goal in the 67th minute to apply even more pressure to a BU side that had back-to-back corner kicks come up empty just a few minutes prior. The nail in the coffin came less than 10 minutes later with GU notching its final goal in the 75th to seal the 3-0 result.

With the setback, the Wildcats have hit a late-season bump after a great start to conference play that featured results in three of their first four matches, including back-to-back wins over Grand View and William Penn.

Baker will look to get back in the win column and return home this weekend to host its Senior Day matchup against Clarke on Saturday, Oct. 25, at 1 p.m. at Hartley Field.
