Wildcats' Second Half Comeback Falls Short vs. Mount Mercy

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Despite two second half goals, the Baker women's soccer team dropped a tough one to Mount Mercy on Saturday, 3-2.

Mount Mercy struck early and put up three goals throughout the first half as the Wildcats trailed, 3-0 heading into halftime. After some halftime adjustments, Baker needed just four minutes in the second half to get on the board as Naomi Harris-Hyche netted the goal to cut the lead to 3-1.

With just over 10 minutes to play, the Wildcats added another goal. This time, the goal came off the foot of Darcy Cato as Baker trailed by just one. Late in the game, the Wildcats scored to tie the game, but the goal was called back due to an offsides call and Baker would not complete the comeback as they fell, 3-2.

The Wildcats are now 3-5-2 on the season and sit at 2-3-1 in Heart of America play. They will be back at home on Saturday, October 4, when they host Culver-Stockton at 5:00 p.m., for Homecoming Weekend.
