Baker Clips Culver-Stockton, 2-0 on Homecoming for Fourth Straight Win

BALDWIN CITY - (RV) Baker men's soccer picked up its fourth straight victory - and third consecutive shutout - with a 2-0 victory over Culver-Stockton here Saturday night at Hartley Field during Homecoming weekend for BU.

Baker scored a goal midway through the first half and added a second one shortly after halftime to earn their seventh overall victory of the season. Ian Waindim and Chafik El Idrissi recorded the goals for BU with both players finding the back of the net for the second time this fall.

Taking all nine shots of the first half, BU boasted a 16-3 margin in shots taken and a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks as Baker controlled possession for most of the match. Culver-Stockton had to play the final three minutes down a man after receiving a second yellow card in the late stages.

Waindim broke to the scoreboard first, netting a game-opening goal in the 21st minute off of a pass from Mo Salas. High pressure from BU's frontline resulted in a C-SC turnover near their box and Salas was eventually able to come away with it and slip a ball over Waindim, who fired home his fifth career goal.

The score remained at a 1-0 advantage for BU through the rest of the first half, but it didn't take long for the home-sided Wildcats to tack on an insurance goal in the second half.

A quick throw-in from Rens Rambaldo in the 48th minute found El Idrissi on a long run straight through the heart of the Culver-Stockton defense and the Moroccan midfielder finished off for his second goal of the last three matches.

Returning to the starting lineup after sitting for an injury, BU keeper Maxot Arystanov tallied his fourth solo shutout of the season to go along with a combined shutout from his previous appearance in Baker's 2-0 victory over Mount Mercy last weekend.

Defenders Javaughn Barrett, Dominik Foldesi and Utah Hester played the full 90 minutes and held the C-SC attack to just three shots in the whole match.

With multiple goals in five straight matches, Baker is outscoring its opponents 11-1 during the recent winning streak, while coming away with three consecutive clean sheets.

BU has now gone over 353 game minutes since being scored on, with its last goal allowed coming in the seventh minute against Benedictine back on Sept. 24.

Improving to 7-4-1 on the season, Baker will head out for a three-match road swing, beginning with a matchup at Park on Oct. 11 at 2:30 p.m. in Parkville, Mo.
