Carter Earns Heart Women's Runner of the Week Award

BALDWIN CITY - Haley Carter of the Baker women's cross country team was named this week's Heart Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week following her first-place performance at the Grand View Invite this past weekend.

Carter, a senior from Overland Park, Kan., set a new personal 6K record en route to her first race win of the season, running a 23:22.72 to lead a field that included over 50 runners (52). She helped pace a BU squad that swept both of the team titles in Des Moines, Iowa with the women's team edging out runner-up MidAmerica Nazarene by three points, while the men beat out Benedictine by an eight-point margin.

It marks the second conference runner of the week honor for Carter after she won the award in late September last year. Carter has finished inside the top-20 in all three of her races this year, including back-to-back top-six finishes after she placed sixth at Baker's Wildcat XC Classic a couple of weeks ago.

Carter and the Wildcats will take some time off before returning to host their second home meet of the season, with the 2025 Mike Spielman Classic scheduled for Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. at the Baldwin City Golf Course.
