Women’s Wrestling Falls in Hard-Fought Dual to Falcons, 28-16

WICHITA, Kan. - (RV) Baker women's wrestling battled back and forth in its non-conference dual at (RV) Friends on Tuesday night, but fell to the Falcons, 28-16 in the first competition of a busy week for BU.

The Wildcats came away a pair of wins courtesy of Aileya Sath at 131 pounds and Liz Cope in the 160-pound match, while Lucia Henriquez (145) and Margaret Jordan (180) each tallied a point and Kylie Robledo earned a forfeit at 117 pounds.

Baker fell behind after the first two bouts of the dual before the Falcons forfeit in the 117-pound match. Sath's pin at 131 pounds made it a 12-10 deficit for BU after the sophomore grappler connected on a late takedown for her first dual win of the season.

With the Wildcats trailing 20-11, Cope reeled off a 10-0 tech fall at 160 pounds to pull BU back within a match. It was Cope's first time competing in a dual this year as the sophomore from Sapulpa, Okla., has wrestled in two tournaments, picking up a fourth-place finish at the Ottawa Open earlier this month.

The Falcons claimed the last two matches to come out on top of their first dual of the season, 28-16.

Baker continues with its busy start to the season, heading to the Missouri Valley Open this weekend with the two-day tournament kicking off on Friday, Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. in Marshall, Mo. Saturday's final day also starts at 9 a.m.
