Cabello Named Heart Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Year

BALDWIN CITY - After earning the program's first conference tournament win, the Baker women's tennis team had two players receive postseason honors as the 2026 Heart Women's Tennis Postseason Awards and All-Conference Teams were announced on Friday.

Laura Cabello was named Heart Freshman of the Year after a stellar debut season for the Wildcats. The freshman from Madrid, Spain, was selected to the All-Heart Second Team, joining teammate Arizbe Espinosa on the postseason list.

Both Cabello and Espinosa played key roles in a successful 2026 season for the Wildcats, culminating with a win in the Heart Conference Tournament. As the No. 4 seed, Baker defeated No. 5 Grand View in straight sets, 4-0, to move on to the Heart Semifinals, where they fell to top-seed Missouri Baptist.
