Flesher Named Baker Head Tennis Coach

BALDWIN CITY - Baker University Director of Athletics Susan Decker announced on Tuesday the hiring of Whitney Flesher as the next head men's and women's tennis coach for the Wildcats.

"I'm very excited to have Coach Flesher leading our tennis programs," said Decker. "With the season quickly approaching, I appreciate her enthusiasm in stepping in and putting our student-athletes in a position to succeed this year. Her familiarity with the program and her experience working with some of our current student-athletes is a major blessing for us."

Flesher has been the Director of Tennis at Genesis Health Clubs in Lawrence, Kan. for the past four years and has worked with Baker student-athletes at the facility since stepping into the position. The Wildcats have used Genesis to host their practices and competitions.

Flesher's tennis background includes training at the Chris Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Fla. before going on to have a successful career playing collegiately at NCAA Division I school Samford.

"I am honored and excited to take on the role of head coach for Baker University's tennis team," said Flesher. "My passion lies in fostering the growth of our student-athletes as individuals and competitors by cultivating a team culture rooted in virtue and a shared commitment to excellence. Together, we will build a program dedicated to making a purposeful and positive impact both on and off the court."

The Wildcats open up their 2025 spring season here in a few weeks with a season-opening match against Avila on February 15 at Genesis South in Lawrence.
