PARKVILLE, Mo. - Playing on the road for the first time in October, Baker women's soccer fell, 8-3 at Park on Saturday afternoon in Parkville, Mo.
A two-goal halftime deficit for the Wildcats turned into a second-half onslaught, which featured seven total goals, including a five-goal performance from the Pirates. Darcy Cato, Sidney Claeys and Rocio Criado Lopez scored the goals for BU.
After Park scored twice in the first eight minutes, Cato came through to get the Wildcats within one in the 17th minute. She followed up a deflected shot that came from fellow forward Naomi Harris-Hyche and buried it for her third goal of the season.
The Pirates increased their lead back out to two goals with a score in the 20th, but the match would go scoreless until halftime.
Claeys' goal in the 50th minute canceled out one from Park that came in the first two minutes of the restart to make the score 4-2 and set the tone for a barrage of second-half goals. On a free kick near the corner, Claeys was able to soar and connect a header into the back of the net to pull BU within two again.
From there, Park tallied four unanswered goals to run away with things before Criado Lopez tacked on the final score of the match with a penalty in the 80th minute. The junior transfer from Indian Hills CC earned her first goal of the fall, while also converting Baker's first PK of 2025.
Caitlin Youles notched her second assist of the season after serving in the free kick that resulted in Claeys' header. Nearing 60 career matches (59), Youles has totaled 14 points on eight assists and three goals in her four years as a starter for BU.
Baker continues the late-season road swing with a matchup at Missouri Baptist on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 4 p.m. in St. Louis, Mo.
