Women’s Golf Takes First at Briar Cliff Match Play Tournament

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Playing in its first road competition of the spring, the Baker women's golf team came away with a first-place finish at a match play tournament hosted by Briar Cliff earlier this week in Sioux City, Iowa.

Coming in seeded third for the tournament, the Wildcats defeated the host Chargers by a clean 5-0 score in Monday's opening round and followed it up with a near-flawless outing against Hastings, 4.5-0.5.

In Tuesday's championship match, Baker came out on top of a thrilling battle over top-seeded Morningside, outlasting the Mustangs in a 3-2 final round to give the Wildcats a team title in their first road tournament.

The BU women's team will be back in action alongside the men's team as both Wildcat squads compete at the Park Spring Classic on April 6-7 at the Bluffs Golf Course in Parkville, Mo.
