Kira Baker Named NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week
BALDWIN CITY - After earning the conference award yesterday, Kira Baker added national recognition on Tuesday as the Wildcats' ace was named NAIA Softball Pitcher of the Week following her no-hitter against No. 11 Midland on Saturday.
Baker, a senior from Eudora, Kan., recorded her seventh career no-hitter after putting on a dominant performance against the 11th-ranked Warriors. She tallied six strikeouts and allowed three walks to lead the Wildcats to a 2-0 victory as part of their perfect 5-0 outing at the Top Gun Midwest College Classic.
The two-time NAIA All-American is currently 2-3 on the season after picking up her second straight win yesterday against Morningside in BU's home opener. She has gone the distance in all but one of her five starts this year and has totaled 29 strikeouts.
Boasting an eight-game winning streak after yesterday's sweep, Baker and the Wildcats will return to action this weekend, competing at the Falcon Invite on March 6-7 in Wichita, Kan.
