Kira Baker Selected to NFCA All-Region Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Baker softball's junior pitcher Kira Baker was named to the 2025 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region Team, earning a spot on the first team as the organization announced its postseason honorees last week.
Baker, a junior from Eudora, Kan., landed on the NFCA All-Region V First Team for the third straight year after being selected in 2022 and 2023 as well. She joined seven other players from the Heart of America Conference on the first team ballot.
In her third season at BU, Baker made 24 starts and went 16-8 in the circle with 170 innings pitched and 180 strikeouts, while posting a 1.32 ERA with a league-best 10 shutouts. She was named Heart Pitcher of the Year after surrendering just six earned runs in all of conference play and winning all but two of her 11 matchups against Heart teams during the regular season.
Baker continues to add to her illustrious career as a Wildcat, which features back-to-back All-American honors and being a first-team all-conference selection all three years. She has dominated opposing hitters since her first season in 2023 with an incredible 0.97 career ERA and sits three strikeouts shy of 700 for her career (697).
Baker and the Wildcats turned in another terrific spring that saw them make their third straight appearance in the NAIA Tournament and reach the championship game of the Heart Tournament for the first time since 2019. BU marked its third straight season with 30 or more wins and won multiple games in the NAIA postseason for the second time in three years.
