Wildcats Fall to No. 20 Saint Mary at Home in Regular Season Finale

BALDWIN CITY - Competing in its final dual of the 2025-26 regular season, (RV) Baker men's wrestling fell to No. 20 Saint Mary, 41-11, in a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon in the Collins Center.

With two BU opens, the Wildcats came up short against a tough Spires squad that claimed six of the eight weight classes that were wrestled in the season finale.

Nikolas Slatoff (149) and Noah Sample (165) earned the victories for Baker, with Slatoff racking up a 15-0 tech fall in the 149-pound match. Sample, a sophomore from Austin, Ark., followed up with a pin in the first period of the 165-pound bout.

For the senior Slatoff, it was his second straight dual win after recently returning from an injury that forced him to miss some of the regular season. Slatoff was a national qualifier last season and ranks seventh nationally at 149 pounds heading into the postseason.

Baker will take a couple of weeks to prep for the 2025-26 Heart of America Conference Championships, which are set to take place on Feb. 20-21, in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
