Wildcats Earn Three Top-20 Finishes at 2025 NAIA Outdoor Championships
MARION, Ind. – The Baker track and field teams closed out their 2025 season by competing in the 2025 NAIA Outdoor National Championships last week in Marion, Ind., where the Wildcats came away with a trio of top-20 finishes.
In his second straight trip to nationals, Caleb Nelson improved on both his mark and finish from last year's meet in the men's javelin after the BU senior recorded a throw of 57.31 meters and placed 15th overall in the event.
Nelson came into the competition ranked 24th among the field, but marked the best throw in his flight and moved up a couple of spots from his 17th-place finish (55.49m) from 2024.
Battling wet and gusty weather conditions, Julie Coffey followed Nelson in the women's competition of the javelin on Wednesday evening and took 20th overall with her best throw coming on her final attempt with a distance of 37.26 meters.
Alexis Summers also competed for the Wildcats on a busy first day in Marion with the sophomore from Kansas City, Mo. running a 25.66 and finishing in 24th in the women's 200-meter dash.
Rounding out BU's nationals trip was Kameron Glasper, who competed in a pair of field events with the men's discus on Thursday before finishing things off with the shot put on Friday. Glasper earned a top-20 finish (19th) in the discus with his best throw coming at 46.27 meters. He followed it up by coming in 24th in the shot put (13.94m) on Friday.
The Wildcats wrap up a 2024-25 track season that saw them earn an eighth-place team finish at both the indoor and outdoor Heart Championships on the women's side and boast a total of six national qualifiers with two indoor and four outdoor.
