Avila Earns Heart Men’s Tennis Player of the Week Award

BALDWIN CITY - Juan Manuel Avila of the Baker men's tennis team was selected Heart Men's Tennis Player of the Week following his performance in the Wildcats' 3-1 outing last week.

Avila went 6-2 in all of his matches last week, including a 3-1 outing in singles bouncing between the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to help lead Baker to wins over Tabor (5-2), Grand View (6-1) and John Brown (4-3).

The junior from Ibague, Colombia also went 3-1 in his doubles matches alongside his teammate Carlos Alcala.

Avila and the Wildcats will continue their home stretch with a matchup tomorrow (March 18) against Oklahoma Wesleyan, starting at 12:30 p.m. at Genesis Lawrence South in Lawrence, Kan.
