Stoger Earns Heart Player of the Week Honors

BALDWIN CITY, Kan. – Michael Stoger of the Baker men's soccer team was selected as the Heart of America's WinWon Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last week, the conference announced today.

Stoger, a freshman from Hornstein, Austria, collected four saves and blanked No. 25 Northwestern Ohio for his first shutout of the season to help Baker earn a top-25 victory with a 3-0 win against the Racers on Thursday.

The BU keeper added three more saves in the Wildcats' 1-1 draw against (RV) University of the Cumberlands on Saturday to cap off a productive first road trip for Baker where they were able to pick up four tough points at the UNOH College Soccer Showcase.

Stoger and the Wildcats are back on the pitch this weekend for a Labor Day tournament hosted out at Hartley Field in Baldwin City, Kan. Baker faces Morningside on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. before playing Hastings on Monday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. to round out the tournament.
