Wildcats Kick Off Spring Season, Host 2026 Baker Invite
LAWRENCE, Kan. – Opening up their spring campaign, the Baker men's and women's golf teams played host to the 2026 Baker Invite on Monday and Tuesday out at Eagle Bend Golf Course.
The Wildcats came in first on both sides with the BU men shooting a combined score of 620 (+44) to come out on top of an eight-team men's field. The Baker women shot a 666 (+90) in their first outing of the season.
As the reigning Heart Men's Golfer of the Year, Gavin Dines (+5) placed second after shooting a 73 in his first round of the spring. He was joined in the top finishes by teammates Melker Hogstrom (+10) and Tagen Rodriguez (+10), who tied for fourth. Hogstrom shot a 76 on Monday and Rodriguez marked the second-highest score of Tuesday's final round with a 75 to climb up the leaderboard.
Drew Lisec (+12) tied for eighth after shooting a consistent set of rounds at Eagle Bend, tallying identical scores of 78.
Madison Zubeck (+18) led a string of four straight Wildcats in the women's field. Reagan Kauth (+23) followed right behind after shooting a 76 on Tuesday, Izabelle Backstrom (+26) marked back-to-back scores of 85 and Brooklyn Bauman (+34) shot an 89 on each day. Kate Braden shot a round-best score of 80 on Monday.
Up next, the women's team will compete in a match play competition at Briar Cliff on March 30-31 in Sioux City, Iowa, while the men's team will return to action on April 6-7 with the Park Spring Classic in Parkville, Mo.
