Dines Starts Hot, Competes at 2025 NAIA Championship

SILVIS, Ill.Gavin Dines turned in a top-15 performance in the first round before bowing out of the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, which was held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. last week.

With rain wiping out the first round of 18, which was originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dines shot one-under par on Wednesday's opening round to finish the day tied for 15th on the leaderboard.

Dines followed with a 76 in the second round on Thursday to bring his two-round total to 146, falling short of the cut line from a field that started off with 29 total teams and 10 fellow individual qualifiers.

Dines earned his spot in the national tournament after claiming the Heart individual championship on a one-hole playoff back in April. He became the second national qualifier in the past three years for head coach Chris Gilbert and the Wildcats after former BU women's golfer Mia Tovkach made it to the NAIA tournament in 2023.
