Dines Claims Heart Individual Title, Team Takes Fourth at 2025 Heart Men’s Golf Championships

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.Gavin Dines sank a birdie putt in a thrilling one-hole playoff to clinch the individual title of the 2025 Heart Men's Golf Championship as the Baker men's golf team wrapped up championship play on Tuesday at the Nicklaus Club at Lionsgate in Overland Park, Kan.

Dines (+7) went to a playoff round after tying with MidAmerica Nazarene's Hunter Schmidt (+7) with an overall score of 223. Both golfers shot three-over in Monday's opening round before flip-flopping scores in the final 36 holes. Dines shot even par in the second round, while Schmidt followed suit in Tuesday's finale to trigger the playoff.

The Wildcats finished fourth as a team with a three-round score of 954, falling a mere four strokes behind third-place Grand View (950) and runner-up Park (936). MNU claimed its second straight championship with a winning total of 903.

Dines was named Heart Men's Golf Player of the Year after becoming Baker's first individual conference champion since Michael Kahler in 2008. The senior from Olathe, Kan. was selected as the NAIA Men's Golfer of the Week earlier this week after closing out the regular season with back-to-back first-place finishes.

Drew Lisec (+16) earned a top-seven spot on the leaderboard after tying for seventh, starting his tournament with a 77 and then shooting a 75 in the second round, which tied for third-best.

Keegan Feder (+34) and Ben Lemke (+36) finished in consecutive spots with Feder shooting an 81 in his second round and placing 32nd, while Lemke tied for 33rd with an 81 in his final 18.

As a national qualifier, Dines will head to the 2025 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship, held at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. on May 20-23.
