Holmes Named to All-Tournament Team, Men Finish 11th at the 2025 Leatherneck Classic

ROCKFORD, Ill. - Continuing their excellent starts to the 2025-26 season, the Baker men's and women's bowling teams each came away with a top-20 finish at the 2025 Leatherneck Classic this past weekend.

The Wildcat men totaled a score of 7995 and placed 11th out of a highly competitive field that featured 39 overall teams in Rockford, Ill. Meanwhile, the BU women took 20th out of 28 teams with an overall score of 6,706, which was fueled by sophomore bowler Skyler Holmes.

Holmes earned a third-place finish after tallying a 212.4 average on 1062 total pins, with her best score coming in game three, where she rolled a 252. Holmes, a sophomore from Olathe, Kan., was named to the All-Tournament Team and went on to add conference honors after being tabbed Heart Women's Bowler of the Week.

Ryan Julian paced the men's squad and came in 75th individually, just finishing under a 200 average after totaling 978 pins in five games. Omar Aguirre registered a few pins shy of Julian's mark, placing 78th with an average of 194.4.

Competing for the varsity reserve team, Connor Brennan boasted a top-10 finish after racking up a solid average of 220.8, with his best set coming in game four with a score of 256. Brennan joined Holmes in sweeping the league's weekly awards after being named Heart Men's Bowler of the Week.

Up next, Baker will host their second home tournament of the early season as the NAIA Invite I & II gets started on Friday, Nov. 14, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 16. The tournament will be held at Gage Bowl in Topeka, Kan., and start at 9:30 a.m. each morning.
