Wildcats Defeat Comets, 24-0, in Make-Up Regular-Season Finale
NEVADA, Mo. - After having the original game postponed due to weather, the Baker women's flag football team went on the road and took care of Cottey, 24-0, on Tuesday evening, topping off a 12-2 regular season for the Wildcats.
BU scored on the first possession of the game, added two touchdowns in the second quarter and tacked on a final score with just over five minutes left to play. Meanwhile, the Wildcats defense limited the Comets to just four first downs and 59 yards of total offense in their seventh shutout of the spring.
Tara Llorente contributed to all 24 of BU's points, throwing for back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter and bookending the KCAC matchup with a pair of rushing scores.
With Baker getting the ball first, Llorente capped the opening drive by scoring on an option play near the goal line to make it a quick 6-0 lead.
After chipping their way down the field, the Wildcats scored on the first play of the second quarter as Llorente fired a pass to Alana Romey near the sideline and Romey made a few Cottey defenders miss on her way to a 15-yard touchdown.
Sanija Waller hauled in Llorente's second straight touchdown strike on BU's next possession towards the end of the half, giving the Wildcats an 18-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Baker's defense continued to dominate and allowed the Wildcats to run out the clock offensively, with Llorente's second rushing touchdown finishing off the 24-0 victory.
The Wildcats close out the 2026 regular season at 12-2 overall and 7-2 in KCAC play, one victory short of matching the 13-win totals posted in each of the program's first two seasons. BU opened the year by winning 10 of its first 11 games and went 5-1 in home games.
Baker will await the final seeding and matchups for the 2026 KCAC Tournament, which is scheduled to take place on April 24-25 and will be hosted by the No. 1 seed.
