Wildcats Dominate Threshers in 82-0 Road Blowout

NEWTON, Kan. - Continuing its March road trip, the Baker women's flag football team traveled to Newton, Kan., on Saturday and reeled off an incredible 82-0 blowout over Bethel.

The 82 points marked a program-high for the Wildcats, who are in their third year of competition, after they scored at least 17 points in every quarter. Meanwhile, the BU defense pitched its third straight shutout, recording four safeties and forcing three interceptions.

Offensively, Tara Llorente threw for over 100 yards (108) and three touchdowns and Alejandra Ramos scored a season-high three times. Kaley Phillips tallied two rushing touchdowns, while freshman Natalie Busch had a pair as well with one through the air and one on the ground.

After Llorente found Mahagonay Simmons for the first score of the game, Mariah Greenfield returned a punt 43 yards for a touchdown to make it a quick 14-0 lead for BU.

Baker's defense earned its first safety following the first of Phillips' two scores as the Wildcats' lone senior busted out a 51-yard sprint for her second touchdown to give BU a 35-0 lead at the start of the second quarter.

The Wildcats scored four more times, including another safety, before the end of the half to go into the break with a huge 53-0 lead.

With two quick safeties and a nice touchdown run from Ramos, BU pushed its lead all the way out to 68 points in the third quarter.

Busch accounted for Baker's final two touchdowns, rushing one in from right inside the 10-yard line before tossing a 12-yard strike to Daniela Canals to bring the Wildcats' 82-0 victory to a close.

After having its Wednesday road game at Coffey canceled due to the weather, Baker's next matchup will be this weekend with a matchup at Midland set for Saturday, April 4, at 1 p.m. in Fremont, Neb.
