Road Trip Continues for Wildcats with Matchup at Missouri Baptist

BALDWIN CITY – Boasting a four-game winning streak and an undefeated conference record, (RV) Baker travels to St. Louis on Saturday to face Missouri Baptist in the second straight road game for BU.

The Wildcats continued their incredible midseason turnaround with a 42-3 blowout at Central Methodist last weekend. Baker controlled the game from wire to wire, scoring 42 unanswered points and in all three phases with three non-offensive touchdowns.

Truman Juelsgaard accounted for all three touchdowns from the BU offense, while the defense had two fumbles returned for a touchdown courtesy of Eli'Sha Malveaux and Cameron Porter and special teams came through with a blocked punt, which was returned for a touchdown by Errol Siemon.

After a slow start, the Wildcats have responded with four straight wins, including a top-25 victory over MidAmerica Nazarene. All four wins have come against Heart South opponents, keeping Baker as one of just two unbeaten teams in the division alongside No. 3 Benedictine (3-0). BU and Benedictine will face each other next weekend (Nov. 8) in the Wildcats' home finale.

With four takeaways in Fayette, Mo., Baker has completely erased its own uncharacteristic start from the defensive side of the ball, forcing a total of 15 turnovers in the last five games. BU has been on a tear these last few weeks, recording four takeaways in three straight outings.

Missouri Baptist comes into the game with a 2-5 record overall and picked up its first conference win with a 9-7 victory over Missouri Valley last weekend. The Spartans nearly upset MidAmerica Nazarene, who was ranked 23rd at the time, in Olathe, Kan., earlier this year, but fell short in a 41-39 shootout.

MBU is averaging just over three touchdowns per game (21.71) and has relied on an offensive attack that has rushed for over 100 yards in every game, but one this year, including a season-high 206 yards against MNU. Dual-threat quarterback Jacob Jones leads the team with 437 yards rushing, while throwing for over 1,500 yards (1,515) and tallying 15 total touchdowns in his first season with the Spartans since transferring from South Alabama.

Saturday's matchup will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs. Baker has won each of the previous two games with a big 41-17 win in its first trip to St. Louis in 2023, followed by a one-score victory (16-8) in Liston Stadium last year.

Kickoff for the game is set for 1 p.m. from St. Louis. A free live stream of the game can be found on the Urban Edge Network and live stats will be available here.
