(RV) Baker Takes Undefeated South Record into Road Matchup at CMU

BALDWIN CITY – After a 20-point statement win at home, (RV) Baker football heads out on the road to face Heart South opponent Central Methodist on Saturday, Oct. 25 in Fayette, Mo.

Last week, the Wildcats erased a 14-0 first-quarter hole by reeling off 34 unanswered points to defeat MidAmerica Nazarene, who was ranked No. 22, and secure their third straight victory, while remaining unbeaten in Heart South play at 3-0.

BU forced four turnovers defensively and converted those into 34 straight points with quarterback Truman Juelsgaard accounting for all five scores. He tallied three touchdowns through the air with two of them going to Dom Spears and added a couple of rushing touchdowns to seal the key conference win.

After an 0-3 start for the first time since 2010, the Wildcats have responded with three straight wins, including last week's top-25 victory over MNU. All three wins have come against Heart South opponents, keeping Baker as one of just two unbeaten teams in the division alongside No. 3 Benedictine (2-0).

Defensively, the Wildcats have now forced 11 turnovers in their last four games after going without a single takeaway through the first two weeks of the season. They have also added five sacks during that time with senior Zach Schneider responsible for three of them.

Central Methodist enters the matchup with a 2-5 record overall and 1-2 in conference play. The Eagles defeated St. Ambrose and William Woods in September, but have lost back-to-back games with their latest one coming against Benedictine in a 52-7 loss last weekend.

CMU is averaging over 300 yards per game (308.1) with a balanced attack that averages 169.3 yards through the air and 138.9 yards on the ground. Quarterback Jordan Gile has totaled 917 yards and 11 touchdowns, while running back Dawan Lomax has rushed for 412 yards and two touchdowns this year.

Saturday's matchup will be the 51st meeting between the two programs, with Baker holding a commanding 36-14 lead in the all-time series. BU delivered a huge 62-7 blowout at home over the Eagles last year.

Kickoff for the game is set for 1 p.m. from Fayette, Mo. A free live stream of the game can be found on the Urban Edge Network and live stats will be available here.
