No. 19 Baker Preps for First-Ever Matchup against Owls

FULTON, Mo. – Heading into the back half of the 2024 season, No. 19 Baker will travel to Fulton, Mo. on Saturday to take on William Woods in a post-bye week matchup that will see the two teams square off against each other for the first time.

Last time out, the Wildcats rattled off 23 unanswered points and shut out Missouri Valley in the second half to lift BU to a 26-16 comeback win over the Vikings on Oct. 5. Cameron Porter returned an interception for a touchdown to spark the second-half rally while Sam Heggemann (106) and Chauncey Andrews (103) both rushed for over 100 yards in the game.

Seth Simpson became the fourth Wildcats player to earn conference player of the week honors after he was named Heart Football Special Teams Player of the Week following his performance against the Vikings where he nailed four field goals.

With a 4-1 record overall, Baker will head out for its third road contest of the season with a 1-1 record in its previous two road trips. The Wildcats defeated William Penn, 43-21 in the second game of the season before being tripped up at No. 8 Benedictine, 27-24 in BU's only loss of the year.

In the midst of its first season in the Heart, William Woods comes into Saturday's game with a 1-5 record overall and an 0-2 record against Heart South teams. The Owls earned their only win of the season with a 50-35 victory against Westminster College back in September. They have scored exactly seven points in each of their last two games after a 66-7 loss to Missouri Baptist and a 70-7 loss to No. 14 MidAmerica Nazarene in its most recent game.

The Wildcats will close out the regular season with three of their next four games coming on the road, including a marquee game against the Pioneers in another potentially ranked matchup.

Saturday's game will kick off from Firley Field at 1 p.m. in Fulton. A live stream of the game can be found on The Heart Conference Network and live stats for the game are available here.
