Baker Dance Claims Runner-Up Finish in Season-Opener at Friends
WICHITA, Kan. - The Baker dance team came away with a runner-up finish in its first competition of the 2026 season, placing second at the Falcon Invite on Friday night in Wichita, Kan.
The Wildcats earned an unofficial score of 89.63 to take second in the season-opening event, which featured a total of seven teams, including five from the KCAC. The only other non-KCAC team, Oklahoma City (92.46), came out on top after edging BU by less than three points.
The Falcon Invite served as the first of six regular-season competitions for the Wildcats this year, which also includes a pair of home events with the Baker Classic (Feb. 21) and the Wildcat Invite (March 4).
Along with Visit Topeka, Baker will help host the 2026 NAIA Cheer and Dance National Championships, which will be held at Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, Kan., on March 27-28. As the first of a two-year partnership, they will host the national competition in 2027 as well.
Baker will be back in action next at Kansas Wesleyan's Coyote Classic on Jan. 30, starting at 4:30 p.m. in Salina, Kan.
