Baker Cheer Opens 2026 Season at UCA Nationals
ORLANDO - For the second straight year, the Baker cheer team got to kick off its season at the UCA College Nationals, competing in the 2026 competition this past weekend in Orlando, Fla.
On Friday morning, the Wildcats performed in the semifinals of the All-Girl Game Day division and earned a score of 78.6 to finish seventh, narrowly missing the top-six cutoff for finals.
In the Traditional semifinals on Saturday, Baker posted a score of 63 and tied for 11th with Union.
The season-opening trip to UCA Nationals comes as a lead-in to the 2026 competition season, which features six regular-season events, including a pair of home ones in the Baker Classic (Feb. 21) and Baker Battle (March 4).
Along with Visit Topeka, Baker will help host the 2026 NAIA Cheer and Dance National Championships, which will be held at Stormont Vail Events Center in Topeka, Kan., on March 27-28. As the first of a two-year partnership, they will host the national competition in 2027 as well.
Up next, Baker will compete in its first regular-season competition at the end of January, taking part in the MNU Triangulars on Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. in Olathe, Kan.
